My new favorite smoothie!!!!!
Hey everybody! I know you all like to get new smoothie recipes when I find one I really like so I thought I would share this super simple, healthy, and delicious recipe I have been having every morning lately.
I love this recipe so much much not only because of how it tastes but because of the well balanced ingredients in it. It is smooth and creamy and easy to drink with very little sugar. This recipe gets its greens from spinach and whole cucumber with skin on, nutrient rich fats from avocado and chia seeds, and protein from hemp seeds and almonds.
I find that sometimes my stomach just doesn't tolerate green juices or smoothies very well especially in the morning but when I add avocado to them it seems to make them easier on my gut.
This recipe has just the perfect amount of sweetness and no vegetable taste so it is an easy one to get those picky kids to drink while giving them loads of nutrients for the day! Give it a try and let me know what you think!
Ingredients:
1/3 large cucumber with skin on
1 handful of spinach leaves
1 cup frozen pineapple chunks
1/2 small avocado
8 soaked raw almonds
1 Tbsp hemp seeds
1 Tbsp chia seeds
Coconut water and ice to your desired consistency
Blend all ingredients in blender and enjoy! For variations of this smoothie you can omit the almonds for a nut free version or add some fresh mint and basil for an extra kick and dose of nutrition.
As always....in good health and happiness,
Brandy Augustine PhD
